Zajasminaa

In my work, ceramics become a way of connecting art with everyday function. I combine a restrained colour palette with repetitive, mostly animal motifs, often leaving their interpretation open to others. The same motifs also appear in placemats and tapestries made from wool from my own sheep. Bringing together objects made from different materials, and exploring both their harmony and contrast, reflects the diversity that surrounds me and my desire to carry a personal visual language across different media. My less conventional approach to traditional crafts — working with clay and processing sheep’s wool — gives my practice a sense of purpose and forms part of my journey towards greater self-sufficiency.
