Emma Lea Nikodýmová

Emma Lea Nikodýmová is a photographer working at the intersection of staged and portrait photography. Her practice is strongly influenced by the worlds of fashion and modelling, which she has been part of for around ten years. She is interested in working with the human figure, expression and gesture, as well as its position within space and the overall atmosphere of an image. At times, she connects photography with a cinematic mode of storytelling, searching for moments that feel like individual frames from a broader narrative. Rather than simple documentation, she creates images with their own mood, character and openness to interpretation. At the New Generation exhibition, she presents a photograph of an ostrich created as part of this year’s project in collaboration with Xiaomi and shot on a smartphone.
