Lucie Pouchová

Lucie Pouchová has worked for years as a social worker with some of the most vulnerable groups in society, drawing on both her professional and personal experience as a source for her artistic practice. She focuses primarily on figurative painting, through which she explores themes of loneliness. Her work turns to the everyday, seeking out specific moments that might otherwise remain unnoticed. In a similar way, she examines relationships in which animals substitute for absent human bonds. She also incorporates elements and techniques associated with so-called low culture. Above all, however, she places emphasis on colour, which often stands in deliberate tension with the melancholic content of her paintings.
