Czech Design Week Unveils the Visual Identity of Its 13th Edition and Reveals New Locations in the Center of Prague

The Czech Design Week festival of contemporary design and art, which will invite visitors to the center of Prague from September 10 to 13, 2026, is revealing new locations, program highlights, and this year's visual identity for its 13th edition. Galerie Mánes remains the main exhibition space, now complemented by, among others, the House at the Golden Ring on Týnská Street and Müller's Villa by architect Adolf Loos. This year, the festival will again offer a selection of contemporary works, young artists, and new names on the design scene that are just beginning to make their mark.

The festival will also visit the House at the Golden Ring on Týnská Street, where it will prepare a program for visitors in collaboration with the iconic Czech magazine ABC, celebrating its upcoming 70th anniversary. In January 2027, ABC will celebrate 70 years of its existence. Its history is inextricably linked with the history of Czech comics and paper models, and that is precisely what we want to show visitors in the exhibition. We will add several lectures on the topics of artifacts, cut-outs, comics, and the historical development of ABC, invites ABC editor-in-chief Zdeněk Ležák.

The exhibition line at the House at the Golden Ring, managed by the Museum of Prague, will also be complemented by works from students of the Václav Hollar College and Secondary School of Art, which is one of Prague's traditional art schools. "The ABC magazine has always been an inspiration for the younger generation. And inspiration is the foundation of artistic creation," states its director, academic painter Bohumír Gemrot.

The house, whose history dates back to the 14th century, will offer exhibitions, workshops, and lectures connecting design, illustration, playfulness, technical thinking, and the popularization of science. It will also be one of the last opportunities to visit the space before its planned reconstruction.

Another accompanying location will be Müller's Villa, one of the key works of modern architecture managed by the Museum of Prague, which has undergone extensive reconstruction in recent years. Czech Design Week will present a chamber exhibition circuit of young design, sensitively integrated into the villa's interior. Due to the nature of the site and limited capacity, entry will only be possible through pre-registered guided tours.

The Mánes Exhibition Hall will traditionally showcase current works by Czech and international designers, studios, schools, and brands across various design disciplines. Through panel installations, the festival will offer a selection ranging from product, glass, fashion, and jewelry design to interior objects, author collections, and projects utilizing new technologies. In addition to established studios and brands, the festival will primarily focus on new faces, students, and recent graduates.

This year, Czech Design Week aims to offer visitors primarily a selection of fresh talents and their unique collections. We are interested in the work of authors and brands who are often just starting their journey but already bring a distinctive signature, their own themes, and the courage to seek new forms of contemporary design, says festival director Jakub Dzeverin Dulínek.

The visual identity for the 13th edition works with the theme of futuristic nostalgia. It draws on the aesthetics of the 80s and 90s, neon lights, color gradients, and undulating visual rhythms that combine a sense of calm and movement, deceleration and urban dynamism. The visual was created by Vojtěch Beneš, Kamil Ansorge, and Adam Zaňka from Personaal studio. This year's visual theme continues the festival's effort to create a multi-day island of contemporary creation, encounters, and deceleration in the heart of Prague amidst the city's daily hustle.

Czech Design Week will once again offer visitors a design route through the center of Prague. In addition to the already announced locations, organizers will gradually reveal other venues that will allow visitors to discover contemporary design and art in various urban settings. This route will also include OC Quadrio on Národní třída, which is this year's festival partner.

This year will also feature the "New Generation" exhibition project, which has become a key part of Czech Design Week in recent years. Under the curatorial direction of festival art director Lukáš Pipek and curator Anna Pulkertová, founder of Art Part Club, it will present a selection of young designers and artists from the emerging generation. The project will focus on creators whose design, artistic, and craft work naturally converge, and who often transcend the boundaries of individual disciplines in their practice.

New Generation is now one of the key exhibition projects of the Czech Design Week festival. Especially among young creators, the line between design and art is often very thin. An object can be functional, conceptual, material, and artistic all at once. This year, too, we want to offer visitors a selection of fresh talent from both spheres – creators whose work is already among the most distinctive emerging in the country, and who are worth watching in the future., adds Lukáš Pipek.

The accompanying program will focus on topics currently resonating within the design, art, and cultural scenes. The festival will offer insights into the use of artificial intelligence in creative work, the significance of Czech design in European and global contexts, and the daily realities of designers, creators, and artists. In addition to the exhibitions, visitors will also have the opportunity to look into the processes that often remain hidden behind the final collections.

The 13th edition will also feature the Czech Design Awards, which will recognize the most prominent talents presented at the Czech Design Week festival. The awards, in the form of glass vases, were designed by glass artist František Jungvirt. This year's jury, composed of curators, art and design theorists, designers, and representatives from cultural media and the business sector, will include designer Tomáš Kučera, founder of the We’re Next showcase Lukáš Spilka, and Lenka Žižková from Design Cabinet CZ and the National Student Design Award.

The general partner of the Czech Design Week festival and the Czech Design Awards is the Xiaomi brand. This year's audio partner for the festival is the iconic Danish brand Bang & Olufsen, which will provide visitors with an auditory backdrop while exploring design at the Mánes Gallery. This year's hotel partners for the festival are the design hotel CUBE in the center of Prague and ALMA Prague.

Organizers will reveal additional accompanying locations and program points in the coming weeks. The festival also reminds that the Open Call for designers, artists, studios, brands, and other creators is open until June 15, 2026. Applications can be submitted via the web form, which, along with further information, is available on the festival's website www.czechdesignweek.com.
