Czech Design Week has begun preparations for its 12th edition and opened applications

With applications now open to all interested parties, preparations for the 12th edition of the Czech Design Week festival are entering their main phase. This annual celebration of design will once again focus primarily on innovations and new trends in design. At the same time, it will also aim to present to the public the diverse world of design, capable of both groundbreaking and magnificent proposals, and offering small everyday joys through decorative objects.

At the main exhibition venue, the Mánes Exhibition Hall in the center of Prague, which will host the event for the fourth time, a wide array of products, collections, works, objects, and designs will be presented through panel installations, often blurring the lines between design and art. For this reason, Czech Design Week has established its main base in one of the most significant gallery halls in the Czech Republic. 

This year, too, the festival remains true to its main mission: discovering and supporting new talents within the domestic design scene. The most prominent among them will have the opportunity to present their work as part of the New Generation project, which aims to showcase a leading selection of the youngest generation of designers and artists working in the Czech Republic through a joint exhibition. Last year, the New Generation project successfully introduced the young blood of Czech design and art in the Clam-Gallas Palace, and this year, the festival aims to build on that extraordinary reception. 

“For us, Czech Design Week is first and foremost a celebration of design and creative freedom. We observe that for many, the world is becoming increasingly complicated. For the upcoming edition, we have set ourselves a single task: to offer, through the festival's exhibition and program, a kind of oasis of calm and comfort for all visitor groups,” said festival director Lukáš Pipek on behalf of the organizers. 

The program, which will again feature accompanying exhibitions, lectures, and discussions this year, will this time focus on the strengths of Czech design, future challenges and perspectives in design, and the international successes of young Czech designers. However, current topics that the festival regularly addresses will also be included, as will the announcement of the Czech Design Awards, which are regularly presented at the close of the festival. 

Czech Design Week will take place from Thursday, September 11, to Sunday, September 14, 2025. The main exhibition venue for this year's edition will be the Mánes Exhibition Hall. Additional locations and more detailed information about the festival's accompanying program will be announced by the organizers in the coming months.
