The Czech Design Week festival launched applications for its 13th edition this January, which will take place from September 10 to 13, 2026, at the Mánes Exhibition Hall as the main festival venue. This year's edition will thematically focus on current phenomena ranging from artificial intelligence and the future of design to the sustainability of traditional crafts and international collaboration. Applications for designers, students, studios, brands, and other creators who wish to present their work at Czech Design Week are open until June 15, 2026, via the festival's website.
The organizers are once again inviting creators from both the Czech Republic and abroad to participate, to discover new faces, directions, and forms of design together with visitors. The upcoming edition will thematically focus on current challenges resonating within the creative world. This year, the festival will open a discussion on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and the future of design, while also emphasizing the sustainability of traditional Czech crafts such as glassmaking, porcelain production, and fashion design.
This year, the Czech Design Week festival continues its main mission: to discover and support future talents shaping the domestic design scene. The most prominent young creators will once again have the opportunity to present their work as part of the New Generation project, a joint exhibition aimed at showcasing a leading selection of the youngest generation of designers and artists to the general public.
"Czech Design Week has long served as a platform for new authors and experimentation. For 2026, we want to push this commitment even further and focus on the development and connection of Czech designers with the world. We plan to establish strategic collaborations with international design weeks to support Czech creativity at a pan-European level," outlines Lukáš Pipek, the festival's art director.
This year, the festival will once again visit the iconic Mánes Exhibition Hall, which traditionally offers panel exhibitions across various design fields and curatorial selections. The Mánes Gallery remains the main venue; further exhibition spaces in the center of Prague, as well as details of the accompanying program, will be gradually revealed by the organizers during preparations.
The thirteenth edition follows the exceptionally successful 12th edition of the Czech Design Week festival, which was record-breaking in terms of both attendance and the number of exhibitors. Last year's edition featured over a hundred designers and studios at the Mánes Gallery, the Clam-Gallas Palace, and the iconic Slavia Café.
The Czech Design Week 2026 festival will culminate with the presentation of the Czech Design Award. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 13, at the Mánes Exhibition Hall. Graphic studio Personaal is once again contributing to the visual identity of the festival's 13th edition.
