From September 10 to 13, 2026, Prague will host the 13th annual Czech Design Week, a festival of contemporary design and artistic creation. The main exhibition, featuring nearly a hundred exhibitors, will be held at the Mánes Gallery, while the Museum of Prague at Florenc will host the fourth edition of the curated "New Generation" exhibition for the first time, showcasing a selection of talents from the rising generation of designers and artists. This year, the festival will also expand into the House at the Golden Ring, the Rothmayer Villa, and other galleries, showrooms, and partner venues throughout Prague. The four-day program will be complemented by lectures, meet-the-maker sessions, and the traditional Czech Design Award ceremony.
The Mánes Gallery remains the main venue for Czech Design Week, where visitors will see a cross-section of contemporary product, interior, glass, jewelry, and fashion design, as well as projects utilizing new technologies. This year's selection will connect well-known names and brands with creators who are just beginning to make a significant mark on the scene.
Selected exhibitors include the brand LAAVE, jeweler Kateřina Reich, designers Helena Dařbujánová and Martin Jakobsen, and the technology brand Xiaomi in collaboration with glass artist František Jungvirt.
Emerging artists will also be given significant space, as is tradition. Their work will be presented by glass artist Pavlína Šváchová, fashion designer Eliška Vystrčilová, and the duo Zdeňková & Kounovský, who perform under the name MM Collective. Among the young talents will also be Sára Nedbálková, a student at the UMPRUM Glass Studio, whose work moves between fine and applied art, glass, and interior design experience.
"Once again, Czech Design Week aims to offer visitors a selection of fresh talents and their unique collections. We are interested in the work of creators and brands who are often at the beginning of their journey but already bring a distinct signature, original themes, and the courage to seek new forms of contemporary design," says festival director Jakub Dzeverin Dulínek.
New Generation at the Museum of Prague at Florenc for the first time
One of the key festival exhibitions, New Generation, will move to the main building of the Museum of Prague at Florenc for its fourth edition this year. The showcase will feature a total of 22 artists and designers representing emerging and generationally significant work. The art section was prepared by Anna Pulkertová from Art Part Club, while the design section is curated by Lukáš Pipek for the Czech Design Award.
The exhibition does not focus solely on student work or a strictly defined age category. It focuses on personalities who already demonstrate a distinct authorial approach and the potential to influence the future direction of contemporary design and art. The design section will feature, for example, Oldřich Voyta, Kateřina Handlová, Veronika Šťastná, and František Jungvirt. The art section will offer work by Ilona Koroman, Julie Kopová, Karolína Šulcová, Kateřina Šťastná, and Lucie Pouchová.
ABC at the House at the Golden Ring and design at the Rothmayer Villa
Another prominent festival stop will be the House at the Golden Ring, which will host the project "ABC: 70 Years Full of Surprises." A virtual exhibition projected onto the room walls will commemorate the history of the magazine through characteristic artifacts and the phenomenon of paper cut-outs. Visitors will encounter stories such as the time capsule buried in the Prague Zoo in 2001, the paper robot Abík, the electronic "Cat-Walker" Abin, the Kruan comic series, and the legendary Dirkon paper camera.
The project is being created in collaboration with the Václav Hollar School of Art and Design, whose students will present a selection of graphic posters and board games created during their studies. The program will also include lectures by ABC editor-in-chief Zdeněk Ležák and his deputy Pavel Dobrovský.
This year, the festival will also enter the Rothmayer Villa in Břevnov. In the setting of architect Otto Rothmayer's home, designers Tomáš Kučera and Klára Janypková will present their work together with the Květná 1794 glassworks, whose creative direction the duo has led since 2024.
The program continues at other locations across Prague. The festival route will include Artisème, THE DESIGN, Via Concept Store, Café Slavia and Bar Forbína, the Etna iGuzzini showroom, and Quadrio, which is this year's Premium Food Partner of the festival. This year's edition kicks off on the eve of the festival, Wednesday, September 9, at 6:00 PM at the Mánes Gallery. Over the following four days, the main exhibitions will be complemented by lectures, workshops, guided tours, meet-the-designer sessions, and other accompanying programs. The festival will traditionally conclude with the presentation of the Czech Design Awards, which will take place on Sunday, September 13, at 6:00 PM at the Mánes Gallery. The awards focus primarily on festival presentations and the creators' ability to work with installation and environment. The awards themselves are glass vases designed by František Jungvirt.
Czech Design Week will take place from Thursday, September 10, to Sunday, September 13, 2026. Tickets are available for pre-sale through the Ticketportal and GoOut networks. Czech Design Week ticket holders will also receive free admission to the Friday program of the We’re Next fashion show, which will take place on September 11 at SmíchOFF Office.
The general partner of this year's edition is Xiaomi, and the audio partner is Bang & Olufsen. Other partners include PRAGER’S, Vikeza, AJETO, PRIM, CUBE, and ALMA Prague. The visual identity of Czech Design Week 2026 was created by the studio Personaal.
